This year, Linking Generations was asked to collaborate with Salisbury Composite High School Culinary Arts, and invite our Volunteer Grandparents to attend a class, teaching an ethnic dish from their heritage to our young eager high school students.
On Monday March 4, Sal Culinary Students embarked on SAL’s first ever intergenerational cooking class. Our Volunteer Grandparent shared with the class one of her most treasured recipes passed down through the generations, a traditional Danish Rice Pudding dish. This delicious dessert engaged the students in conversations about culture and tradition, as well as encouraged them to reflect on the value of learning from our community elders. The culinary arts class looks forward to its next lesson that will advance their culinary knowledge and expand their world view on cultural global citizenship.
