“I’m a volunteer with the Linking Generations group and for the past few years I’ve had the kids grow tomatoes to share with their community. It teaches kids where food comes from too – it’s not just the supermarket.
We started these seeds in early April and today we transplanted them into paper cups so the kids could take 2 or 3 plants home and share them. Each student needed to decide who they were going to give their extra plant to. Some students were giving it to their bus driver, some to their grandparents and others were giving it to a neighbor. So not only do they learn where food comes from but they also learn about sharing and doing something kind for someone else.
The kids had a ball getting their hands in the dirt today!! Great kids and awesome teacher!!!”
