The Linking Generations Volunteer Grandparent Program was created in 2019 in response to a lack of opportunities for young and old to relate in an increasingly age-segregated society. Under this program, Senior volunteers can volunteer within a school environment – grade 1-8 in different schools in the county of Sherwood Park. Senior volunteers Grandparents share skills, knowledge & experience, all while providing a valuable community service.
To bring in the Christmas break Grandpa Bernie had the students at Davidson Creek Elementary School decorate gingerbread men.
Lots of different ‘styles’ of gingerbread men were created. Some with a little icing, and some with a lot of icing. Some with a few decorations and some with a lot !!
