“Mini” Country Hoe-Down with Seniors and Students from Linking Generations

A very special visit was held at some of our Senior Facilities this past week. We hosted a “Mini” Country Hoe-Down with Seniors and Students from Linking Generations.

It was a special treat to surprise all Linking Generations participants with a visit from a special “Miniature Pony”.

Donna Rae and Phil Coatta have lived on 40 acres in Strathcona County many years, breeding, showing and loving Arabian and Miniature horses. They both believe in….”Giving Back to Society”….and this includes visits to Senior Centers with her miniature horses.

Our seniors were asked to dress in Western Fare and come out to a party! This visit will be one long remembered. Seniors who have not been around animals for so long remised about their earlier years on farms. Students had pictures taken and played games along side their “linked Senior”. We even played “ Pin the tail on the Pony” !!!

The “Miniature Pony” went to the following Senior Facilities:

Bedford Village with St. Theresa Catholic School
Clover Bar Lodge with École Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School (OLPH)
Silver Birch Manor/Lodge with Lakeland Ridge School
